About The Position
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager with daily convenience-store operations and helps maintain strong customer service, store performance, and team effectiveness. The role includes operating the register, assisting customers, coaching and leading employees, and acting as manager when the Store Manager is away. Responsibilities also include inventory, ordering, merchandising, scheduling, cash handling, deposits, and maintaining the cleanliness of the store and outside areas. Open availability is required; the position is expected to involve weekends, holidays, and primarily second- or third-shift work. Candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to complete bank deposits. A Food Safety Certification is required or must be obtainable.
Requirements
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays and likely second or third shifts.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance are required to complete bank deposits.
- Must be comfortable cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining outside areas such as fuel pumps.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Proficiency in English and basic math skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Food Safety Certification.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of day-to-day operations.
- Operate the register and assist customers quickly, accurately, and courteously.
- Coach and motivate team members to upsell products and promotions.
- Help hire, train, and lead a team focused on customer service and store success.
- Act as manager when the Store Manager is off.
- Handle inventory, ordering, and merchandising to keep the store stocked.
- Maintain cleanliness of the store, including restrooms, trash areas, and fuel pumps.
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure coverage.
- Handle daily cash, make deposits, and oversee store financials.
- Provide feedback and leadership to motivate the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
