About The Position
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of a high-energy convenience store and helps keep the store running effectively across shifts. The role involves customer service, register operation, team leadership, staffing, inventory, merchandising, store upkeep, cash handling, and financial oversight. The Assistant Manager may serve as acting manager when the Store Manager is away. The position requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, and is likely to involve primarily second or third shifts. Candidates should be comfortable with a fast-paced retail environment and physical tasks such as cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining exterior areas, including fuel pumps. A valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance are needed to complete bank deposits. Employment offers are contingent on successful completion of a background check. Candidates may also be required to undergo drug screening under company policy and applicable law.
Requirements
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays and likely second or third shifts.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance to complete bank deposits.
- Must be comfortable cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining outside areas such as fuel pumps.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be proficient in English and have basic math skills.
- Must be willing to learn.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Food Safety Certification.
- Employment offer is contingent on successful completion of a background check.
- May be required to undergo drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of day-to-day operations.
- Operate the register and assist customers with speed, accuracy, and a positive attitude.
- Coach and motivate team members to upsell products and promotions.
- Help hire, train, and lead a team focused on customer service and store success.
- Act as manager when the Store Manager is away.
- Handle inventory, ordering, and merchandising to keep the store stocked.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming store, including restrooms, trash areas, and fuel pumps.
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure full coverage.
- Perform daily cash handling and deposits, and oversee store financials.
- Provide feedback and leadership to motivate the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
