About The Position

The Truck Service Assistant General Manager provides vital support to the General Manager in leading the marketing and operations functions of the Truck Service department. The role helps lead technicians as they troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a professional and accommodating manner, with the goal of returning travelers to the road better than they came.

The Assistant Manager leads and develops team members, supports customer service and department performance, assists with financial objectives, and helps maintain product, service, facility, and safety standards. The position may involve outdoor work in all seasons and exposure to mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, particles, dirt, dust, grease, oil, gas, and cleaning solutions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with other managers.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
• Supervisory experience in a convenience store, truck service, travel center, or other related business.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Truck Service business.
• Leadership approach that sets an example while working alongside team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the team to meet and exceed company performance standards and improve the Truck Service department.
• Develop a trusting atmosphere that encourages feedback from team members and guests; coach and performance-manage staff according to company policy.
• Recruit, hire, train, and retain high-quality team members in accordance with company guidelines, and foster a culture where team members feel respected and recognized.
• Assist in leading technicians through troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• Conduct visual inspections to ensure products and services are available.
• Help achieve financial objectives through effective management of people, products, services, and facility processes, including revenue and profit.
• Adhere to safety standards and standards of operation.
• Follow company guidelines on vendor relationships.
