About The Position

The Assistant Manager II helps the Store Manager oversee store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports daily store activities, assists customers, maintains merchandise and store presentation, performs opening and closing procedures, and helps ensure that company directives, policies, and safety guidelines are followed. It also includes supporting staff training and development, protecting company assets, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe store environment. The position requires frequent physical activity, including walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting. The employee must be able to lift up to 55 pounds from floor level to above shoulder height. High school education or equivalent is preferred, and prior store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed; maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and ensure store associates follow them as well.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, respectful, professional, and friendly environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
