About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Lab Supervisor in Laboratory Unit to support laboratory operations, supervise staff, maintain quality standards, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on laboratory testing and quality assurance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Technology or related science required
• 4+ years of clinical laboratory experience required
• Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong knowledge of laboratory regulatory and accreditation standards
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Nice To Haves

• ASCP Histotechnician certification preferred
• NCA certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily laboratory operations and ensure quality services
• Supervise testing and assist staff with specialized and bench testing
• Train, orient, and evaluate laboratory personnel and competency
• Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory standards
• Oversee quality control programs and prepare monthly QC reports
• Monitor testing performance, turnaround times, and quality indicators
• Investigate non-conformances and initiate corrective actions
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendors
• Maintain laboratory inventory and coordinate supply orders
• Support laboratory software, instrument interfaces, worksheets, and reporting
• Prepare payroll, timesheets, departmental goals, and reports
• Participate in performance improvement projects and committees
• Support recruitment and interview processes
• Maintain effective communication with laboratory leadership and staff
• Promote patient and employee safety
• Stay current with regulatory requirements and professional practices
