The New Jersey Judiciary, Passaic Vicinage, is seeking candidates who possess strong leadership and communication skills, are highly motivated, organized, and self-starting to serve as Court Executive 1b (Assistant General Operations Division Manager). Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2b (General Operations Division Manager), the selected individual will support the overall operations of the division, with responsibilities in assisting with managing the division's budget, interagency coordination, compliance oversight, facilities operations, security, and staff supervision. The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and three years of professional administrative experience, one of which shall have included experience in purchasing, facilities management, operations, health and safety, jury management, interpreting services, courtroom technology, transcript services, records retention, video conferencing, and/or statistical reporting.
  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits.
  • An associate's degree and two years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree.
  • A master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience as indicated above -OR- a law degree may be substituted for two years of experience as indicated above.

Responsibilities

  • Support general operations functions, including: ADA Title II accommodations, Facilities management (space allocation, renovations, relocations, maintenance), Project management and blueprint reading, Sound and video recording, vehicle fleet, transcripts, interpreting, and records management, Jury management and support for Vicinage-wide events
  • Provide information to judges, managers, and external entities such as the Sheriff, County Administration, Prosecutor’s Office, Public Defender, Building and Grounds, vendors, and contractors.
  • Review court activities for compliance with laws, court rules, administrative directives, and issues related to access and fairness.
  • Assist in managing court-related security and emergency response procedures, including incidents involving health and safety, workplace violence, evacuations, closings, and the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).
  • Ensure the Assignment Judge, Trial Court Administrator, and Operations Division Manager are well-informed of significant operational matters.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiating, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Provide staff supervision, including monitoring and prioritizing work for accuracy and efficiency, performance evaluations, training, mentoring, discipline, and recognition.
  • Participate in formulating and developing goals and objectives for assigned units.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
