About The Position
Villa Restaurant Group is seeking a motivated and experienced Starbucks Assistant General Manager to join the opening leadership team for our brand-new Starbucks location at JFK International Airport’s Terminal 6. The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to build a strong team, oversee daily operations, and ensure every guest receives the high-quality products and service associated with the Starbucks brand.
Requirements
- At least two years of supervisory or management experience in a restaurant, café, retail, or hospitality environment
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of scheduling, labor management, inventory, cash handling, and food-safety practices
- The ability to lead by example and maintain a positive, professional workplace
- The ability to meet all JFK Airport security and badging requirements
- The ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required in a restaurant environment
Nice To Haves
- Starbucks leadership experience is strongly preferred
- Experience leading and developing employees in a fast-paced operation
- Experience working in an airport, union, or similarly regulated environment is a plus
Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager in overseeing all daily store operations
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, and developing team members
- Lead shifts and ensure the store operates efficiently during high-volume periods
- Maintain Starbucks standards for beverage quality, guest service, cleanliness, food safety, and store presentation
- Monitor labor, inventory, product waste, cash handling, and operational expenses
- Address guest concerns professionally and help create a welcoming customer experience
- Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and performance support to shift leaders and baristas
- Help maintain accurate payroll, scheduling, inventory, and operational records
- Ensure compliance with Starbucks standards, Villa Restaurant Group policies, airport requirements, union requirements, and applicable regulations
- Assume responsibility for store operations when the General Manager is unavailable
- Support opening activities, training, and the successful launch of the new location
