About The Position

The Assistant General Manager supports the overall success of a Salt & Straw shop by leading people, executing operations, and delivering guest experiences in a fast-paced retail and food service environment. Working closely with the General Manager, this role supports daily shop operations, builds and develops strong teams, promotes operational excellence, and helps create an engaging, inclusive shop culture and neighborhood destination. The role is based at Uptown Plaza in Phoenix, Arizona, and is full-time. The hiring wage is $24.87–$26.53 per hour, with quarterly bonus potential; the broader stated earning range is $24.87–$30.40 per hour. The position requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. It involves working where common food allergens, including peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, and seafood, are present.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of food service, fast-casual dining, or hospitality experience.
At least 18 months of progressive leadership experience.
Experience leading teams of 10 or more Team Members in a high-volume environment.
Ability to coach, develop, and support people with clarity and care.
Age 18 or older.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Partner with the General Manager to achieve operational, cultural, and financial goals.
Lead shifts to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
Plan and execute daily shift schedules, task assignments, and team safety.
Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to Team Members, Shift Coordinators, and Scoopers.
Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of a high-performing team.
Manage cash transactions and inventory, and ensure product quality and food safety.
Assist with payroll, supplies, shop communications, and daily documentation.
Monitor labor and sales performance and support monthly profit-and-loss insights.
Partner on maintenance needs and vendor communications.
Deliver memorable hospitality, share flavor stories, and resolve guest concerns.
Step into team roles as needed and participate in community events.
