About The Position

As an Assistant Director of Patient Dining Services, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of patient meal service across a large hospital campus. In this role, you will lead and develop a team of associates dedicated to delivering high-quality, safe, and timely patient meals that support clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. You will partner closely with clinical, culinary, and nursing teams while managing operational performance, regulatory compliance, and financial goals within your assigned area.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of food service management experience, preferably in healthcare or patient dining environments
  • Experience supporting patient meal service operations, including therapeutic diets and tray line/service delivery models, strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare setting
  • Strong understanding of food safety, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction metrics
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Financial acumen with experience managing labor, budgets, and cost controls
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or Registered Dietitian (RD) background is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient meal service operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality delivery of meals that align with physician orders and dietary requirements
  • Collaborate with clinical teams (dietitians, nursing) and culinary leadership to provide nutritious, patient-centered meals that support care plans
  • Support and implement patient dining programs focused on enhancing the patient experience and satisfaction scores
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
  • Manage, train, and develop frontline associates and supervisors, fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and patient focus
  • Monitor and manage operational performance, including labor (FTEs), productivity, and departmental budgets
  • Maintain strong relationships with hospital leadership and key stakeholders across the campus
  • Assist in process improvement initiatives to optimize patient meal service efficiency and quality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
