About The Position

Care Initiatives is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to support its nursing department at one of its skilled nursing communities in Iowa. The role assists the Director of Nursing (DON) with planning, organizing, and directing the department, while offering experience for potential advancement within the organization. The position focuses on supporting high-quality resident care, developing the nursing team, and maintaining clinical, regulatory, and facility standards. The Assistant Director of Nursing also participates in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team.

Requirements

• Valid RN license in good standing, valid in Iowa or able to be activated in Iowa.
• Current, valid CPR certification.
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws.
• Desire to learn and grow as part of a quality-focused clinical team.
• Strong commitment to helping others and treating them with empathy, respect, patience, and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery concerns and progress, recognize progress, and propose and help implement solutions to concerns.
• Enforce policies and guide the team, fostering individual and team growth.
• Support and coach RNs to promote teamwork and high-quality care.
• Manage administrative functions to improve department efficiency and support future growth.
• Communicate with residents and families regarding care needs.
• Document care accurately to meet clinical, regulatory, and facility standards.
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance protocols.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with other leadership team members.
