About The Position

Care Initiatives is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) to join its compassionate care team serving skilled nursing communities throughout Iowa. The role supports the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department, while providing experience and expertise that may support future advancement within the organization. The Assistant Director of Nursing helps monitor care quality, guide and coach staff, manage department administration, and communicate with residents and families. The position participates in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team.

Requirements

• Valid registered nurse (RN) license in good standing; the license must be valid in Iowa or the candidate must be able to activate it.
• Current, valid CPR certification.
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws.
• Desire to learn and grow as part of a quality-focused clinical team.
• Strong commitment to helping others and treating them with empathy, respect, patience, and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery concerns and progress, recognize progress, and propose and help implement solutions to concerns.
• Enforce policies and guide the team to foster individual and team growth.
• Support and coach registered nurses to promote teamwork and high-quality care.
• Manage administrative functions to improve department efficiency and support future growth.
• Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding care needs.
• Document care accurately in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and facility standards.
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance protocols.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team.
