About The Position

The Assistant Director of Information Technology participates in the general direction of information technology services and manages a major segment of those services at a two-year Community College at which such functions as instruction, business operation, student records, library services and financial aid are assisted by computerization. Information technology services include: academic computing for students and faculty; administrative computing; telecommunications; local and wide area networking; library automated systems; messaging and e-mail services; and specialized applications of technology for instruction and research. The College’s information technology services are assisted by the System Data Center, the Community College system’s central information technology service, which develops and purchases software applications which are available system-wide. The Assistant Director of Information Technology assists in the on-site management of information technology services for the College. The position fulfills the role of an advanced information systems technical person and, as such, may perform substantial hands-on hardware and software installation, testing, operation, modification and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technological discipline with two (2) or more years of experience in computer system, network and software design, development and implementation and one (1) or more years of experience in supervision of others; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
  • Computer and telecommunications hardware and software, local and wide area networking, software design and development, and equipment assembly and installation.
  • Application of computer hardware and software systems to academic and management information uses and installations.
  • Installing, operating, trouble shooting and adapting computer, network and telecommunications equipment and software.
  • Leading and supervising staff in a technological and academic environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years of demonstratable experience with Cisco network equipment.
  • Two (2) or more years of demonstrable experience with Hyper-V or VMware.
  • Two (2) or more years of hands-on troubleshooting/repairs with Dell hardware and/or Dell technician certifications.

Responsibilities
