About The Position

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for strategic planning, day-to-day operations, and continuous improvement of IT infrastructure and support services across all organizational sites. Reporting to the CIO, this role serves as the operational leader for all IT functions including helpdesk, systems administration, network infrastructure, endpoint management, and vendor relationships. The Director of IT plays a critical role in supporting clinical and administrative staff across a growing, multi-site oncology organization, ensuring systems reliability, security, and scalability as the organization expands through acquisitions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site IT infrastructure in a healthcare or similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of network infrastructure (firewalls, VLANs, WAN, wireless), server administration (Windows Server, virtualization), and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience managing helpdesk operations and developing tiered support models.
  • Solid understanding of HIPAA technical safeguards and healthcare IT compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and IT budgets effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for clinical and administrative stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology Management, Cybersecurity Management, Information Systems or related technical discipline.
  • Experience with oncology or specialty clinic IT environments, including Flatiron OncoEMR, Varian ARIA, or similar clinical platforms.
  • Familiarity with HL7/FHIR integration concepts and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewall administration.
  • Background in managing MSP relationships and hybrid (in-house + outsourced) IT models.
  • Experience supporting practice acquisition and IT integration projects.
  • Relevant certifications: CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified (Azure/M365), ITIL, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations across 20+ clinical and administrative sites, ensuring high availability of all critical systems.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure including firewalls (Fortinet FortiGate), switches, wireless, and WAN/SD-WAN connectivity.
  • Ensure uptime and performance of clinical systems including Flatiron OncoEMR, Varian ARIA, Orchard LIS, and HL7/FHIR integration engines (Mirth Connect).
  • Lead server infrastructure management including on-premises virtualization, cloud workloads (Azure), and backup/disaster recovery.
  • Oversee endpoint lifecycle management: provisioning, patching, imaging, and asset tracking across all sites.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 tenant administration including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Directly manage and develop helpdesk and systems administration staff, including personnel embedded at Cyburity MSP and CCI sites.
  • Define and enforce SLAs for helpdesk response and resolution across all locations, balancing remote/Tier 1 support with on-site Tier 2 coverage.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for complex technical issues and critical system outages.
  • Partner with the MSP to ensure contractual obligations are met and service quality is maintained across distributed sites.
  • Support onboarding and IT integration of acquired practices, including network cutover, system migration, and staff training.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance across all IT systems, ensuring appropriate access controls, audit logging, and data encryption.
  • Lead cybersecurity operations including endpoint protection, phishing defense, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Manage firewall rule sets, VPN configurations, and network segmentation in coordination with clinical and compliance stakeholders.
  • Conduct and document annual security risk assessments and coordinate remediation plans.
  • Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery plans are current, tested, and executable.
  • Manage IT vendor relationships including hardware, software, telecom, and managed service providers.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts, renewals, and licensing agreements to optimize cost and coverage.
  • Develop and manage the annual IT operations budget in collaboration with the CIO and finance leadership.
  • Identify and evaluate technology investments that improve operational efficiency and support organizational growth.
  • Lead IT workstreams for practice acquisitions, including due diligence, infrastructure assessment, and integration planning.
  • Coordinate network connectivity, domain migration, email cutover, and system onboarding for newly acquired sites.
  • Standardize IT configurations, security policies, and support models across acquired practices within defined timelines.
  • Collaborate with the CIO, Data Analytics, and clinical operations teams to align acquisition integration with organizational standards.
