About The Position

Evans Distribution Systems is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Information Technology to lead the company’s technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and systems integration initiatives. This executive leadership role is responsible for aligning technology investments with business objectives, ensuring secure and reliable operations, and driving innovation that enhances customer service and operational efficiency. The Director of Information Technology will oversee the daily operations of the IT department while providing strategic direction for technology initiatives across the organization. This position partners closely with executive leadership, operations, and customers to support growth, improve system capabilities, and maintain a secure and scalable technology environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including management of teams and enterprise systems
  • Strong project management and organizational leadership skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems in a business environment
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with executive leadership
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience supporting logistics, transportation, manufacturing, or distribution operations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Technology Planning
  • Develop and execute the company’s technology roadmap aligned with operational and growth objectives
  • Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership on technology investments, risk management, and emerging technologies
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency, data visibility, and customer integration
  • Establish and monitor IT performance metrics, budgets, and service levels
  • Cybersecurity and Risk Management
  • Lead the organization’s cybersecurity program, including risk assessment, incident response, and compliance initiatives
  • Ensure protection of company systems, networks, and data through effective security policies and controls
  • Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Maintain compliance with applicable security and privacy standards, including customer and regulatory requirements
  • Infrastructure and Systems Management
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and support of enterprise technology systems, including networks, servers, cloud platforms, and end-user computing
  • Manage system availability, performance, and reliability across all facilities
  • Ensure effective lifecycle management of hardware, software, and technology assets
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to support operational growth and customer needs
  • Applications and Integration
  • Lead the development, implementation, and support of warehouse management, transportation management, and business systems
  • Oversee system integrations with customers and partners, including EDI, APIs, and data exchange solutions
  • Support reporting and data analytics capabilities to enable informed business decision-making
  • Collaborate with operations and customer teams to identify technology solutions that improve service and efficiency
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures
  • Promote professional development, training, and continuous improvement
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, service, and innovation
  • Vendor and Budget Management
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and consultants
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee service performance and cost management
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring responsible and strategic use of resources
  • Evaluate vendor solutions to ensure alignment with business requirements and long-term value
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with operations, finance, human resources, sales, and customer teams to support business initiatives
  • Participate in customer meetings to support technology integration and service delivery
  • Support quality, compliance, and operational improvement initiatives across the organization
