About The Position
We’re looking for a forward-thinking, hands-on Director of Information Technology to lead and elevate our entire technology ecosystem. This isn’t just about keeping the lights on—this is about building a modern, secure, and scalable tech environment that powers real business growth. You’ll be the go-to leader for everything IT—owning strategy, driving execution, and partnering closely with leadership to turn business goals into smart, efficient technology solutions. NearU is a people-centric, process-driven, and technology-enabled customer service platform dedicated to revolutionizing the home services industry by vastly improving the customer and employee experience. This role is four days on-site at our Charlotte Branch Service Center office. Located at 2550 West Tyvola Road Charlotte, NC.
Requirements
- 8+ years of IT leadership experience
- Proven success managing IT operations, infrastructure, and vendors
- Strong expertise in cloud environments and identity management
- Experience with compliance frameworks (HIPAA preferred)
- A natural communicator who can influence at all levels
- A builder mindset—you don’t just maintain, you improve
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day IT operations across internal teams and managed service providers
- Ensure systems are fast, reliable, and always available when the business needs them
- Jump in as the escalation point for critical issues and keep things moving
- Build strong, accountable partnerships with IT vendors and MSPs
- Set clear expectations through SLAs—and hold partners to them
- Continuously evaluate performance, cost, and value
- Champion a strong, proactive security posture across the organization
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA experience a plus)
- Lead audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvements
- Oversee cloud platforms, identity management, and core business systems
- Guide smart architectural decisions that scale with the business
- Drive consistency, efficiency, and future-ready solutions
- Prioritize and lead key IT initiatives from idea to execution
- Align technology investments with business priorities
- Deliver projects that make a measurable impact
- Own and optimize the IT budget
- Make thoughtful, data-driven investment decisions
- Balance cost with innovation and performance
- Act as the bridge between leadership and technology
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable solutions
- Keep stakeholders informed with regular updates and insights
