About The Position

The Assistant Director of Facilities will be an integral part of the Engineering and Maintenance & Custodial teams. This role will work closely with the Custodial Manager and the Assistant Chief Engineer to ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment across all facilities. They must be highly organized and hands-on to oversee the day-to-day facility operations while also managing small internal projects. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of coordinating multiple stakeholders while driving operational excellence and project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–7 years of experience in facilities management, operations, or project coordination.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Basic project management experience (formal certification is a plus).
  • Strong vendor management and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact in-person with colleagues.
  • Use common office tools and machines (computer, phone).
  • Ability to traverse throughout the office and building(s) both inside and outside of the museum and visit different levels of the building.
  • Ability to carry/transport materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working alongside engineering and custodial teams preferred.
  • Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) is preferred.
