About The Position

As an Assistant Mechanic Technician, you will work under supervision and follow established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and mechanical equipment. You will utilize your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery, vehicles, and systems. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship. Must have all required tools to fulfill the responsibilities and requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards, and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including Hazardous Energy Control Procedures (HECP) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate directions and specifications verbally and in writing to team members.
  • Understand and follow the directions and guidance of supervisors and other technicians.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn new skills; seeks out opportunities to specialize.
  • Document Work and Parts Usage: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, replacements, and maintenance tasks. Record parts usage, labor hours, and diagnostic findings utilizing fleet maintenance software program.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools properly and safely.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance: Execute routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, component lubrication, fluid checks, filter and wiper blade replacements, and inspections, to prevent breakdowns and prolong the lifespan of vehicles and equipment.
  • Test and Adjust Systems: Test vehicle systems and components to ensure proper functionality and alignment. Adjust settings, calibrate sensors, and perform fine-tuning as necessary to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Repair and Replace Components: assist with repairs and replacements on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components. Follow manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines to ensure quality repairs and optimal performance.
  • Maintain Tools and Equipment: Properly maintain and care for tools, equipment, and shop facilities to ensure they are in good working condition. Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Provide Support: Assist other technicians, mechanics, and supervisors in the completion of repairs, including service calls for breakdowns.
  • Wash vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform other maintenance related work as required.
  • Complete all assigned mandatory online and in-class training modules.
