About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Shop Foreman to lead daily operations of a waste service maintenance shop. The role supervises technicians, prioritizes repairs, and ensures the fleet of trash collection vehicles and equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational. This position covers the night shift, from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Requirements

At least 5 years of fleet or heavy equipment maintenance experience; waste industry experience preferred.
At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with CMMS or maintenance tracking systems.

Nice To Haves

CDL license.
ASE certifications for medium/heavy trucks.
Welding or fabrication experience.
Waste industry maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

Supervise and lead maintenance technicians, assigning and prioritizing daily work.
Oversee repairs and preventive maintenance on refuse trucks and equipment, including front-load, rear-load, and roll-off vehicles.
Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed on time and minimize downtime.
Review diagnostics, approve repairs, and manage parts usage.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
Coordinate with operations and dispatch on equipment needs and status updates.
Enforce OSHA and DOT safety standards and lead safety meetings.
Manage inventory, control costs, and track maintenance metrics.
Assist with hiring, training, and performance management of staff.
