About The Position

The Assistant Department Manager (Tile) is responsible for training and developing Product Sales Specialists and ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience through exceptional customer service and product information. The role provides direction to product sales specialists, supports department merchandising and inventory activities, assists customers with product selection and transactions, and helps maintain compliance with company procedures and retail standards.

The position operates in a warehouse environment where employees are frequently exposed to moving vehicles and moderate-to-noisy conditions. Physical duties include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects with varying levels of force, along with frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of customer service or sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to product sales specialists to ensure attentive and accurate customer service.
• Complete all product specialist certification courses.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of merchandise and installation.
• Ensure the department's overall merchandising, pricing, and organization.
• Communicate standard operating procedure direction and changes to associates in a timely manner.
• Complete Industrial Truck (forklift) proficiency testing and certification.
• Communicate inventory needs to management.
• Direct and assist with processing merchandise to the showroom floor.
• Validate product placement and pricing within the department.
• Greet customers helpfully and courteously.
• Assist customers with product questions and selections.
• Process customer purchases at checkout using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Process customer refunds and exchanges according to established guidelines.
• Present how-to classes to customers.
• Follow established cash, check, and charge card acceptance procedures.
• Answer the telephone according to accepted guidelines.
• Stock and tag merchandise displays as required.
• Create price tags and merchandise signs.
