The Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) works closely with the Club Manager to provide leadership and direction within the club and drive club performance, particularly in assigned departments. The role prepares the trainee to assume one of three Assistant Club Manager positions: Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience. Development and experience are aligned with the designated track, with the eventual responsibility of overseeing the corresponding departments. The AMIT supports consistent execution of policies and procedures, positive member service, Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) standards, audit compliance, collaboration with Business Partners, and onboarding, certification, and training for food safety and operational excellence. The AMIT may serve as Manager on Duty (MOD), taking responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and member engagement during assigned shifts. A valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification must be obtained and maintained in good standing. The role may require yearly forklift certification. In Florida, the role requires a qualifier certification through the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for retail propane oversight; BJ’s covers applicable certification and training costs. The position leads department operations and talent management, supports hiring and scheduling, drives sales and inventory performance, and ensures operational readiness, safety, compliance, and member service standards. It uses club systems and reporting to identify opportunities and drive results, supports special initiatives and cross-functional operations, and requires regular, predictable, full attendance. The stated pay range is $69,500 to $86,750.
