Assistant Center Director - Childcare & Preschool
About The Position
The Learning Experience in Prince William County, Virginia, is seeking an experienced early childhood educator to support daily operations at a licensed childcare center, develop the teaching team, and create a positive experience for children and families. This is a hands-on leadership role working with teachers and families and helping the center run smoothly. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, and the stated salary is $48,000–$55,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Previous professional experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting is required.
- Must meet applicable Virginia childcare licensing requirements for assigned responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of early childhood education and classroom operations.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable conducting family tours and building relationships with parents.
Nice To Haves
- Previous Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, Center Director, or childcare leadership experience.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supervising teaching staff.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
- Early Childhood Education coursework, a CDA, an associate degree, or a bachelor's degree.
Responsibilities
- Support the Center Director with daily operations of a licensed childcare center.
- Assist with teacher scheduling, staffing, and classroom ratios.
- Coach, mentor, and support teachers with classroom management and curriculum implementation.
- Help recruit, onboard, and train new team members.
- Support implementation of The Learning Experience's L.E.A.P. Curriculum.
- Conduct prospective family tours and support enrollment and retention.
- Build relationships with families and address questions or concerns.
- Maintain licensing documentation and support compliance with Virginia childcare regulations.
- Assist with classroom observations and staff development.
- Help coordinate school events, family engagement activities, and daily communications.
- Step in to support classrooms and leadership as needed.
