About The Position

The Assistant Buyer - Frozen is part of Grocery Outlet’s Purchasing team, which builds and maintains vendor relationships and provides solutions for supplier partners and independent operators. The role focuses on ensuring the accuracy of data entered into Grocery Outlet’s systems so the company can use that data to optimize business decisions. The Assistant Buyer enters and monitors information including item details, product images, purchase orders, and master vendor files. This position reports to a Buyer on the team.

Requirements

Data entry experience.
Proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all levels of staff and management.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Willingness to learn and a positive attitude toward change.

Responsibilities

Enter data for all new items created at Grocery Outlet.
Enter data for all purchase orders created at Grocery Outlet.
Enter data for new vendors and update master vendor files as needed.
Maintain department files, including purchase orders, quote sheets, supplier lists, and other documents.
Ensure purchase orders are completed accurately and on time; monitor timely arrivals at warehouses and reschedule when necessary.
Set up suppliers, items, and modules in company systems with maximum accuracy and attention to detail.
Update item descriptions and retails, and research competitor pricing.
Maintain credibility and responsiveness, including promptly returning vendor and store calls.
Manage past-due items and supplier follow-up.
Manage the flex order guide, as applicable.
