About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily department operations, driving sales, maintaining product quality, and delivering excellent customer service. The position helps ensure the bakery operates efficiently, stays stocked with fresh products, and meets company, food safety, and regulatory standards. It also supports associate training, inventory management, and leadership of the department when the Bakery Manager is absent.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous bakery, food service, or retail supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
• Ability to work in refrigerated areas and around bakery equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily bakery department operations.
• Ensure bakery products are properly prepared, displayed, labeled, and merchandised.
• Maintain the department’s appearance, cleanliness, and organization.
• Monitor production to meet customer demand while minimizing shrink.
• Support sales plans, promotions, and merchandising programs.
• Provide customer service, answer product questions, assist with special orders and recommendations, and resolve concerns professionally.
• Promote bakery products and suggest additional purchases when appropriate.
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Support scheduling and daily work assignments; monitor employee performance and provide feedback.
• Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to company standards.
• Oversee department operations in the Bakery Manager’s absence.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock replenishment.
• Help control labor, supply, and shrink expenses; monitor product rotation and freshness.
• Support department sales growth and profitability goals.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health regulations, and company policies for product handling, storage, and preparation.
• Maintain a safe working environment and ensure proper use and maintenance of bakery equipment.
