Assistant Bakery Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Bakery Manager delivers fast, friendly, helpful, and efficient service to Market 32/Price Chopper customers. This role assists the Bakery Manager with day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with merchandising, sanitation, and training policies and procedures. The Assistant Bakery Manager inspects bakery products to maintain availability and quality and maximize sales opportunities. The position supports bakery operations in a retail store, including product preparation, baking, merchandising, and final presentation. It oversees department operations when the Bakery Manager is absent and helps maintain customer satisfaction through appropriate product variety, availability, quality, service, and sanitary conditions. The role also assists with associate training, inventory, and financial aspects of the department, while following company efficiency, safety, and shrink-control procedures.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and support others, with strong follow-through in achieving desired results and objectives.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- 6–12 months of related experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide fast, friendly, helpful, and efficient customer service while following company 5S efficiency standards.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and organized workstation in accordance with 5S standards.
- Assist with bakery operations, including product preparation, baking, merchandising, and final presentation of bakery products.
- Oversee department operations in the absence of the Bakery Manager.
- Maintain customer satisfaction through product availability, quality, service, sanitary conditions, adequate presentation, and appropriate product variety.
- Follow corporate and state sanitation regulations.
- Manage and fulfill customer special orders accurately and promptly.
- Assist with training and developing bakery associates to support corporate performance standards.
- Follow company safety and training policies and procedures, and ensure bakery associates do the same.
- Assist the Bakery Manager in maintaining inventory levels in freezers, coolers, back rooms, supplies, and Deco Pac.
- Develop proficiency in bakery financial activities, including paperwork, weekly shrink, transfer sales, and budgets.
- Control shrink by consistently following related policies and procedures.
