About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Department Manager in leading the bakery team and department operations. The role focuses on delivering high-quality bakery products and customer experiences while supporting sales, freshness, and store success. It combines baking craftsmanship with operational execution, team development, merchandising, and customer service.

The assistant manager helps oversee daily bakery operations, production planning, merchandising, sales and labor goals, inventory, and compliance. The role also supports hiring and developing associates and assumes responsibility for department operations when the Bakery Manager is absent. The position requires flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and involves working in hot and cold environments and lifting up to 50 pounds. No travel is required.

• Ability to review sales, labor, and production data to inform departmental planning.
• Ability to train, coach, and develop associates at various skill levels.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in hot and cold temperature environments.
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable attendance and compliance with company safety policies and Code of Business Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily Bakery Department operations and maintain standards for quality, freshness, presentation, and customer service.
• Create a welcoming, customer-focused environment; resolve customer concerns and handle special orders.
• Assist with planning and executing daily bakery production based on sales trends and seasonal demand.
• Execute merchandising plans, promotions, planograms, and seasonal programs.
• Assist in managing department sales, labor, scheduling, ordering, inventory, and shrink goals.
• Support compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with hiring, training, coaching, and developing bakery associates while promoting teamwork and accountability.
• Perform Bakery Department duties as needed and assume responsibility for department operations when the Bakery Manager is absent.
