About The Position

The Department of Exercise Science at Ripon College is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time position as tenure-track Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, or as non-tenure-track Instructor or Professor of Practice, with initial appointment in August 2027. The position's area of specialization is Physical Education and Health. This is a 9-month position committed to the academic and professional preparation of Physical Education and Health teaching majors.

Requirements

  • Ph.D./Ed.D in Physical Education (or a closely related field) or M.S./M.eD. with at least four years of professional K-12 teaching experience in physical education and health
  • Ability to teach a variety of classes related to physical education and health
  • Candidates with a Ph.D./Ed.D. will have a clearly articulated research agenda
  • Candidates with a M.S./M.Ed. will demonstrate how their experience in the field will inform their teaching.
  • Strong commitment to student-centered active learning and student engagement

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching one or more of the following courses: Personal and Community Health Problems, School Health Curriculum, Adapted Physical Education, Instructional Strategies in Physical Education, Sport Nutrition, and/or Motor Learning
  • Demonstrated experience working in multicultural environments and interest in developing curricula related to diverse populations
  • Willingness to develop courses building on the established curricula
  • Evidence of successful collaborative work across disciplines
  • Ability to establish a research program that engages both undergraduate and graduate students
  • Commitment to undergraduate advising
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate research projects
  • Teacher Licensure/Certification
  • Prior experience in the K-12 classroom

Responsibilities

  • Teaching physical education courses such as Personal and Community Health Problems, School Health Curriculum, Adapted Physical Education, and various teaching fundamentals courses.
  • Other teaching responsibilities may include Sports Nutrition and Motor Learning.
  • Advising students in the department.
  • Service to the college, department, and community.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations.
