About The Position

Walsh University is seeking a core faculty member for its Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. We're looking for a collaborative educator to join a team focused on developing leaders who serve the needs of society and the profession. The role centers on teaching, scholarship, and service: Teaching: Instruction and student assessment in assigned courses. Scholarship & Assessment: Individual or collaborative scholarship agenda and Course/program assessment, plus accreditation activities. Service & Governance: Academic advising, program and university governance, and participation in strategic planning and implementation. The faculty member reports to the Chair of the Physical Therapy Program and helps advance the mission and vision of both the program and the University.

Requirements

  • An earned terminal academic degree (DHSc, EdD, or PhD) combined with a professional physical therapy degree (BS/MS PT or DPT)
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical rehabilitation experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Involvement in a professional society
  • Interest in collaboratively pursuing grant funding to support scholarly work
  • Must demonstrate an understanding the Walsh University Statement of Faith and a commitment to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of clinical rehabilitation experience
  • Classroom or lab instruction experience with graduate students, particularly DPT students
  • Involvement in professional community development activities
  • Clinical or academic research and/or teaching experience in evidence-based practice, research methodology, foundational examination/intervention coursework, and/or health systems management.
  • Flexibility to complement existing faculty and teaching needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead course delivery within your area of expertise, including content delivery and assessment of student learning
  • Communicate and organize effectively, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students within the program and across the University
  • Evaluate students to determine readiness to progress in the curriculum
  • Teach assigned courses throughout our 12-month program
  • Maintain professional service through active membership in a professional society (e.g., APTA)
  • Participate in independent or collaborative scholarly activities, including the design, implementation, and completion of work disseminated through presentations or publications
