About The Position

The University of Florida's College of Education is seeking a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor specializing in AI-Based Quantitative Research Methods in Education. This role is part of the Research and Evaluation Methodology (REM) program and offers opportunities for collaboration with AI and technology-enhanced learning researchers. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a strong research program, secure external funding, publish in top-tier journals, present at professional conferences, and mentor graduate students. Responsibilities also include teaching advanced methodological courses and contributing to service within the program, college, university, and profession. The appointment begins in August 2027, with a negotiable and competitive salary. Potential areas of expertise include AI-enhanced psychometrics, computational psychometrics, digital-based assessment, causal machine learning, reinforcement learning, NLP-based methods, validity and reliability in AI-enhanced methodology, and integration of machine learning with statistical approaches.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in relevant academic discipline. ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is conferred prior to August 15, 2027.
  • Record of scholarship as demonstrated through publications and presentations at national conferences (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scholarly activities commensurate with expectations of a tenure-track assistant or associate faculty member at a research-intensive university
  • Build a collaborative and diverse community of scholars among colleagues within and outside of the college, especially within UF’s AI research community
  • Vigorously pursue external funding opportunities with the support of the College’s Office of Educational Research
  • Publish in top-tier refereed methodological journals or proceedings
  • Advise, engage, and mentor graduate students on research activities and theses and dissertations.
  • Design and teach advanced methodological courses (face-to-face, blended, and/or online) for graduate students and, potentially, undergraduate students
  • Provide service to the university and the profession
