About The Position

The University of Florida's College of Education is seeking a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor specializing in AI-based Quantitative Research Methods in Education. This role is part of UF's initiative to integrate AI education across all majors and colleges. The successful candidate will join the Research and Evaluation Methodology (REM) program, a collaborative community focused on high-quality teaching, research, and service. Opportunities for collaboration exist with researchers in AI and technology-enhanced learning, including the Institute for Advanced Learning Technologies. The position requires developing and maintaining a focused research agenda, securing external funding, publishing in top-tier journals, presenting at professional conferences, and advising/teaching graduate students. Service to the program, school, college, university, and profession is also expected. The appointment is for nine months, tenure-accruing, beginning August 2027. Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Potential areas of expertise include AI-enhanced psychometrics, computational psychometrics, digital-based assessment, causal machine learning, reinforcement learning in educational research, NLP-based methods, validity/reliability/impacts in AI-enhanced methodology, integration of machine learning with statistical approaches, and advancements in educational quantitative research methodology through AI.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in relevant academic discipline. ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is conferred prior to August 15, 2027.
  • Record of scholarship as demonstrated through publications and presentations at national conferences (commensurate with experience)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scholarly activities commensurate with expectations of a tenure-track assistant or associate faculty member at a research-intensive university
  • Build a collaborative and diverse community of scholars among colleagues within and outside of the college, especially within UF’s AI research community
  • Vigorously pursue external funding opportunities with the support of the College’s Office of Educational Research
  • Publish in top-tier refereed methodological journals or proceedings
  • Advise, engage, and mentor graduate students on research activities and theses and dissertations.
  • Design and teach advanced methodological courses (face-to-face, blended, and/or online) for graduate students and, potentially, undergraduate students
  • Provide service to the university and the profession
