Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Orthopedics Sports Medicine
About The Position
The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences is seeking a qualified, dynamic and collaborative individual to join our Department of Orthopaedic-Surgery and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as Assistant or Associate Professor with fellowship training in Sports Medicine. This position will provide comprehensive, patient-centered orthopaedic sports medicine care in both outpatient and surgical settings and engage in teaching, research, and scholarly activities with residents, medical students, athletic trainers, and other learners in fulfillment of the missions of The University of Toledo and UT Health. In accordance with Faculty Rules, UT Health policies, and applicable regulatory requirements, the employee will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, supervising trainees, maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting departmental growth, and contributing to the academic mission through teaching, scholarship, and service.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
- Completion of fellowship training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
- Eligible for and able to maintain an unrestricted medical license in the State of Ohio.
- Unrestricted DEA registration.
- Eligible for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges at affiliated hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency.
- Completion of an accredited Sports Medicine fellowship.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, research, and service.
- Interest in developing and expanding a comprehensive Sports Medicine Program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to mentor and teach medical students, residents, fellows, and allied health learners.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive orthopaedic sports medicine care in outpatient clinics.
- Evaluate and manage sports-related injuries and conditions affecting athletes and active individuals.
- Perform arthroscopic and open surgical procedures involving the shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, and other sports medicine conditions.
- Participate in call coverage as assigned.
- Provide team physician services and athletic event coverage, as appropriate.
- Participate in departmental, hospital, university, and sports medicine program committees.
- Support the growth and development of the Sports Medicine Program through outreach, physician relations, and community engagement.
- Assist with quality improvement and program development initiatives.
- Teach and supervise orthopaedic surgery residents, medical students, fellows, and allied health learners.
- Participate in didactic lectures, conferences, and educational activities.
- Engage in clinical research, scholarly publications, presentations, and mentorship of trainee research projects.
