About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Washington is seeking to hire a faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This role will serve as the Director of the Cardiac Cross-sectional Imaging Program. The position is full-time with a twelve-month appointment, anticipated to start in November 2026. The Department of Pediatrics is the second largest in the UW School of Medicine, comprising twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments. It is closely affiliated with Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty are located across various institutions including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCC, and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.

Requirements

• Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).
• Must have completed pediatric residency and a categorical fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology.
• Completion of a 4th year advanced imaging fellowship training is required.
• Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Pediatric Cardiology.
• Must be currently licensed as a physician or eligible for licensure as a physician in Washington state.
• Graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent communication and team management to collaborate with physicians, staff, and other stakeholders.
• Develop a national reputation in both clinical excellence and research in the field of cross-sectional imaging.
• Develop expertise in research methods as well as a successful research career and mentor faculty and trainees in scholarly work.
• Ensures the accuracy, quality, and appropriateness of all cardiac CT/MRI procedures and images, including overseeing quality assurance programs in conjunction with radiology partners.
• Lead initiatives to improve cardiac CT/MRI performance, implement new processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Develop strategic plans for the cardiac CT/MRI program in collaboration with the division of cardiology, heart center, radiology and hospital, including business development and marketing, while tracking market trends and growth opportunities.
• Supervise, mentor, and train a multidisciplinary team of physicians, trainees and administrative staff.
• Engage in clinical activities in a wide range of non-invasive cardiac imaging modalities.
• Perform and interpret imaging and physiologic data needed to understand underlying pre and postoperative simple and complex cardiac congenital pathologies in neonates, and children.
• Serve as an attending physician in the Echocardiography Laboratory at Seattle Children's Hospital.
• Timely completion of echocardiogram interpretation and reporting of results with appropriate communication to referring providers.
• Participates in outpatient, inpatient cardiology and consultation.
• Provides excellent clinical care and in the process, supports safe, efficient and high-quality services.
• Ensures appropriate coordination and integration with other services in the care of their patients.
• Engages with consultants and other providers in a multi-disciplinary model of care.
• Works with administrative and clinical leaders to support quality and performance improvement to ensure that program goals are attained.
• Participates in task forces and committees, as applicable to Service line or Seattle Children’s leadership.
• Supports timely review of any patient safety events.
• Responds in a timely manner to physician or patient related feedback or complaints.
• Supports legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Participates regularly in physician variability documentation and IAC conferences to maintain lab accreditation.
• Supports and participates in M&M program and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Provides input to continuing education activities designed to maintain and enhance competencies.
• Maintains professionalism with regards to billing, documentation, conference attendance and collaboration with peers, trainees, staff, patients and families.
• Significant scholarship activities focused in cross-sectional imaging.
• Demonstrates expertise in research methods with a successful research career as well as experience mentoring faculty and trainees in scholarly work.
• Identifies opportunities and actively participate in scientific investigations and collaborations.
• Maintains academic productivity commensurate for rank and for the Clinician-Scholar.
• Supports cardiac clinical educational programs for sonographers, medical students, residents, fellows and nursing.
• Provides advanced clinical and research training for non-invasive cardiac imaging fellow.
• Participates and contributes to quality improvement projects and/or curriculum development.
