About The Position

The Norcliffe Foundation Center for Integrative Brain Research (NFCIBR) at Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI) and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine invites applications for two faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor without tenure, with an anticipated start date of January 2027 to augment the cardiac research efforts of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and Seattle Children’s Research Institute. We are seeking applicants who demonstrate committment to excellence in research, teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. This position will be expected to generate external funding either at the federal level, or via private funding agencies and/or industrial sponsors. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full time basis for a 12 month appointment. (Assistant Professors are eligible for a 3-year term eligible for renewal beginning July 1, 2029) Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology is a diverse team covering every pediatric and congenital cardiac specialty, and has a broad network, extending across 4 states in the Pacific Northwest. Our scholarly pursuits span outcomes research, device and drug trials, translational research, and basic scientific inquiries. The successful candidates will be expected to support either one of our current academic directions, or a novel direction applicable to the interests of our team. Candidates will be considered across a range of interests in Pediatric Cardiology Research.

Requirements

  • A PhD in a relevant field (or foreign equivalent) or MD (or foreign equivalent)
