About The Position

Boston College is seeking an Assistant/Associate Director (AD) of Annual Giving Reunion Programs to manage reunion volunteer leadership giving fundraising efforts. This role focuses on driving gifts of $1,000 to $25,000 from three milestone reunion classes. The AD will be responsible for identifying and recruiting volunteer committee members, managing solicitation strategies for volunteers and members of reunion classes, and cultivating relationships with high-capacity individuals. This position is part of a 250-person centralized organizational structure within University Advancement, which supports professional growth and values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The role requires a commitment to the university's mission and the goals of the 'Soaring Higher' campaign.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • For Assistant Director: minimum of 1-2 years of experience in university fundraising settings or comparable settings with broad-based annual giving programs and donor/volunteer management.
  • Proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of at least $1,000.
  • Ability to articulate the case for annual support.
  • For Associate Director level 1: 2-3 years of professional experience in university fundraising settings or comparable settings and a proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of at least $10,000.
  • For Associate Director level 2: minimum of 3-4 years professional level fundraising experience with a proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of $10,000 or more, with a focus on closing gifts of $10,000 to $25,000.
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills (for Associate Director level 2).
  • Goal-oriented team player with a strong understanding of annual giving strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees a portfolio of reunion and non-reunion classes and is responsible for the development and management of class gift committees.
  • Identifies and recruits class leadership and fundraising volunteers, sets goals, develops and implements class fundraising plans, and collaborates with class leaders and colleagues on individual prospect strategies.
  • Manages a portfolio of undergraduate alumni prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding them in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Determines and executes fundraising strategies to increase reunion class giving, including personal cultivation and solicitations, management of peer-to-peer solicitations, appeals, events, stewardship activities, and strategic visits by institutional leadership.
  • Analyzes fundraising activity to identify areas for improvement in dollars raised and participation.
  • Advises on class fundraising strategies, leads class leadership meetings, surveys class leadership and donor prospects, and determines solicitation strategies for leadership gift prospects.
  • Works to increase dollars, educate volunteers, and drive donor retention and acquisition in both reunion and non-reunion classes.
  • Collaborates regularly across BC Advancement to promote strategies that move prospects through the gift cycle and to further the case for Boston College and the BC Fund support.
  • Conducts approximately 75 personal visits annually for recruitment, volunteer management, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship purposes.
  • Carries a portfolio of 50-75 alumni to drive solicitation activity focused on 1863 Society solicitations and BC Fund support.
  • Identifies prospects for longer-term institutional engagement and giving.
  • Partners with Direct Marketing colleagues on the development of reunion appeals strategy.
  • Strategically plans events and programs in support of fundraising activities and partners closely with Alumni Relations to ensure partnership between Reunion fundraising and Reunion program committees and activities.
  • Works on special projects to advance overall fundraising objectives in collaboration with Reunion and Leadership Giving teams.
