About The Position

The Asset Protection Visual Security Officer’s primary role is to provide a visible and welcoming presence at the customer entrance, helping deter theft while supporting the customer shopping experience. The officer helps provide a safe environment for customers and colleagues by greeting and engaging customers, offering assistance, and maintaining a high degree of professionalism in carrying out duties within the store. Bloomingdale’s provides an Asset Protection training program to help colleagues gain the knowledge and tools needed for the role and grow in responsibility.

Requirements

• No education or experience required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
• Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• A resourceful self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods around the store or department.
• May occasionally need to reach above eye level, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome customers while on the selling floor.
• Visually monitor customer traffic entering and exiting the store.
• Deter theft through visual observation.
• Help maintain a safe business environment.
• Communicate suspicious activity to Asset Protection/Security.
