The Asset Protection Officer creates a safe, secure, and service-focused shopping environment through a visible, welcoming presence at store entrances, high-traffic areas, and high-shortage locations. The role helps deter theft, identify potential risks, support customer and colleague safety, and partner with store teams to provide a positive experience. Officers respond calmly and professionally to incidents and medical situations, use technology and two-way communication devices, and support shortage-reduction efforts. They may assist with apprehensions under the direction of Asset Protection leaders and provide testimony in legal proceedings as needed. This position requires prolonged standing and walking around the store, and may involve occasional reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. The role may require long periods in enclosed surveillance areas, the ability to apprehend shoplifters, and frequent lifting or moving of up to 30 pounds. Colleagues must be available for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays; schedules include weekend shifts and depend on business needs and colleague availability. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week. Macy’s offers competitive pay and benefits, including health and wellness coverage, a 401(k) match, paid time off, eight paid holidays, learning and leadership development, colleague resource groups, and volunteer opportunities. Additional offerings include merchandise discounts, performance-based incentives, an annual merit review, and an Employee Assistance Program with mental health counseling and legal and financial advice.
