About The Position

As an Asset Protection Detective, you will help protect company assets, reduce shortage, and support a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. Using surveillance, investigative tools, and strong partnerships with store teams and law enforcement, you will identify and respond to theft, recover merchandise, and help protect customers, colleagues, and the business. This role contributes to reducing loss while maintaining a safe and welcoming store environment through training, observation, investigation, and de-escalation. The position involves communicating and collaborating with colleagues, using office and computer systems, reviewing written and electronic information, and moving around the workplace to carry out responsibilities. It requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, the ability to apprehend shoplifters, and the ability to spend long periods in enclosed surveillance areas. The role may occasionally involve reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and frequently lifting or moving up to 30 pounds.

Requirements

For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.
Ability to apprehend shoplifters.
Ability to sustain long periods of time in enclosed surveillance areas.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods; occasional reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; and frequent lifting or moving of up to 30 pounds.
Requires close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Use surveillance techniques, investigative tools, and reporting systems to identify theft, dishonest activity, and shortage trends.
Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement to support investigations and protect company assets.
Use de-escalation tools and sound judgment to help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
Prepare clear, timely, and accurate reports, statements, evidence, and documentation for investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
Train colleagues on protocols that help protect company assets.
Identify, investigate, and respond to theft and dishonest activity.
Support the apprehension of shoplifters and dishonest employees while following company policies and legal requirements.
Recover stolen merchandise and provide statements, evidence, and documentation to support investigations.
Maintain compliance with company policies and legal standards related to apprehensions, searches, and evidence preservation.
Testify in court for criminal and civil cases as needed.
Respond to alarm calls, support special assignments, and facilitate first aid for customers and colleagues when needed.
