As an Asset Protection Detective, you will help protect company assets, reduce shortage, and support a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. Using surveillance, investigative tools, and strong partnerships with store teams and law enforcement, you will identify and respond to theft, recover merchandise, and help protect customers, colleagues, and the business. This role helps reduce loss while maintaining a safe and welcoming store environment through training, observation, investigation, and de-escalation. Part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12–24 hours per week; schedules include weekend shifts, and hours depend on business needs and colleague availability. The position requires communication and collaboration, use of office and computer systems, prolonged periods of standing and walking, and the ability to apprehend shoplifters. It may involve reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; sustaining long periods in enclosed surveillance areas; frequently lifting or moving up to 30 pounds; and using close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Macy’s describes its environment as dynamic and inclusive and offers competitive pay and benefits, including health and wellness coverage, a 401(k) match, paid time off, paid holidays, learning and leadership development, colleague resource groups, volunteer opportunities, merchandise discounts, performance-based incentives, annual merit review, and an Employee Assistance Program.
