Asset Protection Detective, Southpark Center - Full Time
About The Position
As an Asset Protection Detective, you will help protect company assets, reduce shortage, and support a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. Using surveillance, investigative tools, and strong partnerships with store teams and law enforcement, you will identify and respond to theft, recover merchandise, and help protect customers, colleagues, and the business. The role contributes to loss reduction while maintaining a safe and welcoming store environment through training, observation, investigation, and de-escalation. Duties include identifying and responding to theft and dishonest activity, supporting apprehensions and investigations, recovering merchandise, preparing reports and evidence, maintaining compliance with company policies and legal standards, and partnering with store colleagues and law enforcement. The role may also involve testifying in court, responding to alarm calls, supporting special assignments, and facilitating first aid when needed. The position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, the ability to apprehend shoplifters, and the ability to spend long periods in enclosed surveillance areas. It frequently involves lifting or moving up to 30 pounds and requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
- Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.

- Ability to handle proprietary, sensitive, and confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.
- Ability to apprehend shoplifters.
- Ability to sustain long periods of time enclosed in surveillance areas.
- Frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

- Prepare clear documentation, statements, and evidence for investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
- Train colleagues on protocols that help protect company assets.
- Identify, investigate, and respond to theft and dishonest activity.
- Support the apprehension of shoplifters and dishonest employees in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Recover stolen merchandise and provide statements, evidence, and documentation to support investigations.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports related to theft incidents, investigations, audits, and assigned activities.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and legal standards related to apprehensions, searches, and evidence preservation.
- Testify in court for criminal and civil cases as needed.
- Respond to alarm calls, support special assignments, and facilitate first aid for customers and colleagues when needed.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect in relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
