As an Asset Protection Detective, you help protect company assets, reduce shortage, and support a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. You use surveillance, investigative tools, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement to identify and respond to theft, recover merchandise, and help protect customers, colleagues, and the business. Through training, observation, investigation, and de-escalation, the role helps reduce loss while maintaining a safe and welcoming store environment. The role involves using surveillance techniques, investigative tools, and reporting systems to identify theft, dishonest activity, and shortage trends; supporting investigations with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement; and applying de-escalation tools and sound judgment. You prepare documentation, statements, and evidence for investigations, audits, and legal proceedings, and may testify in court. The position also involves responding to alarm calls, supporting special assignments, helping with first aid when needed, and training colleagues on asset protection protocols. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week. All schedules include weekend shifts; hours depend on business needs and colleague availability. The position requires prolonged standing and walking, time in enclosed surveillance areas, and the ability to apprehend shoplifters. It may involve occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and frequently lifting or moving up to 30 pounds.
