About The Position

As an Asset Protection Detective, you will help protect company assets, reduce shortage, and support a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. Using surveillance, investigative tools, and strong partnerships with store teams and law enforcement, you will identify and respond to theft, recover merchandise, and help protect customers, colleagues, and the business. The role contributes to reducing loss while maintaining a safe and welcoming store environment through training, observation, investigation, and de-escalation. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week. All schedules include weekend shifts, with hours dependent on business needs and colleague availability. The position involves prolonged periods of standing and walking around the store or department, occasional reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and frequent lifting or moving of up to 30 pounds. The detective must be able to apprehend shoplifters and sustain long periods in enclosed surveillance areas. The role also requires close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Requirements

For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.

Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement to support investigations and protect company assets.
Use de-escalation tools and sound judgment to help maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
Prepare clear documentation, statements, and evidence to support investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
Train colleagues on protocols that help protect company assets.
Identify, investigate, and respond to theft and dishonest activity.
Support the apprehension of shoplifters and dishonest employees while following company policies and legal requirements.
Recover stolen merchandise and provide statements, evidence, and documentation to support investigations.
Prepare timely and accurate reports related to theft incidents, investigations, audits, and assigned activities.
Maintain compliance with company policies and legal standards related to apprehensions, searches, and evidence preservation.
Testify in court for criminal and civil cases, as needed.
Respond to alarm calls, support special assignments, and facilitate first aid for customers and colleagues when needed.
Foster an environment of acceptance and respect with colleagues, customers, and communities.
