About The Position

As a Bloomingdale’s Asset Protection/Loss Prevention Detective, you are responsible for protecting the assets and people of your location. Bloomingdale’s provides an Asset Protection/Loss Prevention training program to support learning the role and growing in responsibility. The position uses technology, analytics, and investigative skills to support asset protection, while requiring a high degree of professionalism in carrying out duties within the store.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of related experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Resourcefulness and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Must satisfy licensing requirements where required by state or local jurisdiction.
Experience operating and monitoring CCTV systems.
Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to apprehend shoplifters.
Ability to sustain long periods in enclosed surveillance areas.

Responsibilities

Greet and welcome customers while on the selling floor.
Identify, observe, and apprehend individuals committing theft by shoplifting.
Apply knowledge of state laws and statutes related to shoplifting and apprehensions.
Participate in the store shortage-reduction program, including partnering with specific departments.
Maintain building safety and security, and open and close the building when appropriate.
