About The Position

As a Bloomingdale’s Asset Protection/Loss Prevention Detective, you are responsible for protecting the assets and people of your location. The Asset Protection/Loss Prevention training program provides the knowledge and tools needed for the job while you grow in responsibility. The role uses innovative technology, analytics, and investigative skills, and requires a high degree of professionalism in carrying out duties within the store.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of related experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
Resourcefulness and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Must satisfy licensing requirements where required by state or local jurisdiction.
Experience operating and monitoring CCTV systems.
Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including day, evening, weekend, and/or holiday hours.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods around the store or department.
Ability to apprehend shoplifters.
Ability to sustain long periods of time in enclosed surveillance areas.
Ability to frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.
May occasionally need to reach above eye level, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Responsibilities

Greet and welcome customers while on the selling floor.
Identify, observe, and apprehend individuals committing theft by shoplifting.
Apply knowledge of state laws and statutes related to shoplifting and apprehensions.
Participate in the store shortage reduction program, including partnering with specific departments.
Maintain building safety and security, and open and close the building when appropriate.
