About The Position

The Asset Protection Associate supports shortage reduction and investigations, helps ensure employees follow Five Below policies and procedures, and contributes to store security and safety. The role involves monitoring the store through regular movement on the sales floor, maintaining the employee entrance where applicable, tracking packages delivered through that entrance (excluding normal scheduled shipments), and interacting courteously and professionally with customers at the entrance or exit. The associate also conducts physical security checks and safety inspections, communicates hazards to store management, and makes recommendations to help prevent loss.

The position requires strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to work independently and with staff and management at all levels, and familiarity with Five Below policies, procedures, and key departmental products. This is an hourly role starting at $18.50. Nights and weekends may be required based on retail business needs.

Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of retail Loss Prevention experience.
• Basic understanding of retail or security.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for retail business needs.
• Ability to stand or walk on the sales floor for up to 8 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds.
• Regular time and attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to work independently.
• Full understanding of Five Below policy and procedure.
• General product knowledge in key departmental areas.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to shortage reduction and investigations.
• Work closely with the General Manager to ensure employees follow policies and procedures.
• Maintain the employee entrance, where applicable.
• Track packages delivered through the employee entrance, excluding normal scheduled shipments.
• Conduct store physical security checks and recommend ways to prevent loss.
• Perform figure eights in the store and remain in motion throughout the store.
• Provide a visual presence at the entrance or exit through courteous and professional interaction with customers.
• Conduct safety inspections and communicate hazards to store management.
• Greet customers as a Five Below associate.
