About The Position

The Asset Protection Agent helps keep customers, employees, and brands safe while protecting company profits by mitigating shrinkage and preventing, investigating, and resolving theft. The role partners with the store Emergency Response Team (ERT) to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies, and supports merchandise availability through improved inventory accuracy and reduced shrinkage. The position focuses on three Asset Protection pillars: protecting people, protecting physical spaces and merchandise, and supporting product accuracy. The Agent uses judgment, reporting, surveillance, video systems, and RFID data to identify and investigate theft and merchandise inaccuracies. The role also supports store safety and security, leads or participates in audits and awareness efforts, responds to emergencies, prepares incident reports, and may testify in court when summoned. Agents build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.

Responsibilities

Resolve theft using good judgment and conduct quality apprehensions in high-shrinkage areas while following policy, procedures, and AP leadership guidance.
Identify theft trends using technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
Implement action plans and merchandise protection standards to foster a shrinkage-reduction culture.
Identify, escalate, and support internal theft investigations, including through exception-based reporting and surveillance systems.
Gather evidence for internal theft investigations and partner with AP Leadership and Investigation teams.
Use video systems to monitor theft activity and support investigations.
Use RFID data to review merchandise movement and assist item-level investigations into merchandise inaccuracies.
Maintain the safety and security of customers, employees, and the store by responding to, escalating, and reporting security and emergency incidents, including medical emergencies.
Lead security audits, participate in store meetings, and lead shrinkage-awareness efforts and training.
Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency-response training, including First Aid.
Prepare and submit prompt, complete reports concerning high-profile incidents, merchandise recoveries, investigations, policy violations, safety incidents, and other illegal activities.
Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Build cross-functional partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
