About The Position

The Asset Protection Agent helps protect store associates, customers, and company assets by promoting shrink awareness, deterring theft, monitoring store activity, and investigating suspected criminal activity and policy violations. The role partners with store and Asset Protection leadership, supports customer service initiatives, maintains a safe and secure store environment, and assists with internal investigations, audits, and operational risk reduction. The agent may also be assigned additional duties in support of business needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the education requirement, if applicable.
If required by the state or local municipality, hold a salesperson license or pass the requisite licensing exam within 60 days of starting employment.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Business, Safety, or a related loss prevention or asset protection field.
Demonstrated experience conducting retail investigations, including at least one retail investigation.
Experience using physical security systems such as CCTV and EAS.
Experience in investigations involving Organized Crime and asset protection.
Completion of a nationally certified training program, such as Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reed training.
Professional accreditation such as LPQ or LPC, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Coach and train associates and leaders on shrink awareness, theft deterrence, and customer service programs.
Partner with Store and Asset Protection leadership to identify theft trends, develop action plans, and promote awareness initiatives.
Deliver SMART customer service and ensure associates have the resources to do the same.
Maintain a safe, clean, and secure store environment by monitoring entrances, exits, and high-risk areas.
Use surveillance, reporting, and exception-based tools to detect theft, fraud, and policy violations.
Conduct external theft apprehensions and interviews in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
Investigate and resolve criminal activity, maintain case files, and support law enforcement and court proceedings.
Assist with internal investigations and provide evidence when needed.
Validate store security measures, including locks, gates, and alarms, and respond to EAS and emergency exit triggers.
Provide feedback on audit and inspection findings and support efforts to minimize shrink and operational risk.
Respond effectively to potentially violent situations while ensuring safety and composure.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of business needs.
