About The Position

The Asset Protection Agent helps keep customers, employees, and Nordstrom brands safe; protects company assets and profits; and supports merchandise availability by preventing, investigating, and resolving theft and reducing shrinkage. The role partners with the store Emergency Response Team (ERT) to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies, and supports inventory accuracy through store partnerships. Work varies from day to day and includes theft prevention and investigation, safety and security response, merchandise protection, reporting, and collaboration with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement.

Responsibilities

Resolve theft using sound judgment and conduct quality apprehensions in high-shrinkage areas while following policies, procedures, and AP leadership guidance.
Identify theft trends using technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
Implement action plans and merchandise protection standards to promote a shrinkage-reduction culture.
Identify, escalate, and support internal theft investigations using methods such as exception-based reporting and surveillance systems.
Gather evidence for internal theft investigations in partnership with AP leadership and investigation teams.
Use video systems to monitor theft activity and support investigations.
Use RFID data to review merchandise movement and assist with item-level investigations involving merchandise inaccuracies.
Respond to, escalate, and report store security and emergency incidents, including medical emergencies, to help maintain the safety and security of customers, employees, and the store.
Lead security audits, participate in store meetings, and lead shrinkage-awareness efforts and training.
Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training, including First Aid.
Prepare and submit prompt, complete reports on high-profile incidents, merchandise recoveries, investigations, policy violations, safety incidents, and other illegal activities.
Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Build cross-functional partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
