About The Position

The Assembly Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains machinery and equipment, including motors, conveyor systems, production machines, and assembly equipment. The work includes troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues; replacing worn or defective parts; adjusting equipment and controls; and testing machinery after repairs. The technician may also rebuild or upgrade assembly equipment to reduce scrap and improve quality, and develop and implement cost-saving ideas. The position requires following work rules and policies and observing safety and environmental responsibilities. Employees are accountable for their own safety and that of coworkers, and share responsibility for environmental stewardship. The regular schedule exceeds eight hours per day and 40 hours per week, and mandatory overtime must be accommodated; additional overtime is assigned as needed.

Requirements

One to three months of related experience and/or training.
Must pass a skills assessment.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to understand and carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must be able to work mandatory overtime.
Regularly stand, walk, talk, and hear; frequently use hands, reach, climb or balance, and sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, or crawl.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Clean photoelectric equipment with contact cleaner.
Remove, disassemble, and rebuild escapements, replacing worn parts.
Dismantle and rebuild air cylinders by replacing worn parts.
Locate and repair pneumatic leaks and electrical faults using a multimeter.
Adjust feeding tracks, escapements, tube cuts, tube bins, Syntron feeder speed, and air-cylinder speed.
Replace motors, motor controls, clutches, and conveyor belts; troubleshoot and repair electric motors.
Clean parts bowls and parts using cleaning fluid or solvents.
Remove jammed or defective parts using the required tool.
Troubleshoot equipment with a programmer using a keyboard.
Rebuild assembly equipment to reduce scrap and improve quality.
Develop and implement cost-saving ideas.
Observe operating equipment and evaluate potential problems for future repairs.
Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective parts.
Adjust equipment function parts and control instruments.
Repair or replace defective parts and install special functional or structural parts.
Lubricate and clean parts; start equipment to test performance.
Set up and operate a lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to repair or make spare parts.
Repair electrical equipment.
Follow all work rules and policies and meet safety and environmental responsibilities.
