About The Position

Assembles a variety of merchandise for display and/or sale to customers using common hand tools and manufacturers’ instructions. Items include bicycles, strollers, furniture, grills, and lawn and garden equipment. The assembler inspects finished products before delivery, advises customers on proper use and maintenance, installs optional equipment purchased by customers, and assists customers with merchandise selection and related equipment options. The role also includes minor repairs, maintaining a safe and orderly work area, and assisting with backroom, stocking, and receiving functions as needed. The position may require the employee to supply the tools necessary to perform assigned duties.

Requirements

• Twelve months of experience assembling items such as bicycles, strollers, furniture, grills, and lawn and garden equipment.
• One year of high school education may substitute for three months of experience, up to a high school diploma or GED as a substitute for 12 months of experience.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift light to medium-weight bulky objects.
• May need to use a handcart to move stock within, to, or from storage and selling locations.
• May be required to supply the tools necessary to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

• Assemble merchandise such as bicycles, strollers, furniture, grills, and lawn and garden equipment for display and customers after purchase.
• Inspect finished products before delivery to ensure they are in proper working order.
• Advise customers on proper use and maintenance of equipment.
• Install optional equipment purchased by customers.
• Assist customers in selecting merchandise and bicycles, and advise them about optional equipment available for purchase.
• Perform minor repairs, including cleaning equipment, adjusting brakes and gears, refinishing minor scratches, and replacing worn or broken parts.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work area.
• Assist with backroom, stocking, and receiving functions as necessary.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Assist customers in loading merchandise into vehicles.
