About The Position

As an Assembler, you will be responsible for performing assembly work utilizing lean principles (one-piece flow) to produce FDA regulated devices in a controlled collaborative work environment. You will be joining mechanical and hydraulic components, including some basic electrical wiring. The role involves inspecting and performing finished product testing to ensure products meet established Engineering and Quality requirements, and accurately recording test results on the Device History Record (DHR). You will also identify and report any defects or problems encountered during the assembly process and troubleshoot simple equipment malfunctions. Collaboration and communication within a team environment are essential, as is the ability to cross-train throughout the home department. Supporting and promoting a safe working environment through adherence to established safety procedures and guidelines is also a key aspect of this role. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment and sustaining minimum productivity standards once trained are expected. The role requires the ability to adapt to conditions as dictated by business requirements and to conform to policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • High school graduate/GED
  • Aptitude and ability to read and interpret basic Engineer blueprints and utilize Assembly Instructions (“Standard Work”).
  • Ability to manage, evaluate, and assemble components or sub-assemblies accurately and efficiently using small hand tools (tape measure, wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, level, torque wrenches, etc.) to align or position components.
  • Ability to work safely in a demanding environment performing task while standing and/or walking for extended periods (70%-100% of the day).
  • Demonstrates basic arithmetic and counting skills.
  • Ability to adapt to conditions as dictated by business requirements.
  • Conforms to policies, procedures and Code of Conduct as provided in Employee Handbook.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving parts and equipment variation while maintaining quality expectations.
  • Ability to identify, communicate and trouble shoot problems.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other employees.
  • Will be required to enter data at a computer terminal.
  • Basic counting and arithmetic skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge, understanding, and application of basic LEAN manufacturing tools such as 5S, Kanban, Visual Management, and Problem Solving are preferred.
  • Previous assembly experience with small or complex assemblies preferred; 1 - 2 years.
  • Ability to perform in-process inspections and testing preferred; 1 – 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and sustain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Sustain minimum productivity standards once trained.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
