About The Position

APAC Alabama, Inc., part of CRH’s South Division, is hiring an Asphalt Roller Operator for heavy highway projects. The role involves safely and efficiently operating asphalt rollers and compactors to bring asphalt, soils, and aggregate within compaction specifications. The operator must understand asphalt and aggregate characteristics, rolling patterns, vibration frequencies in relation to maximum depth, and how to follow grades. Duties described are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

Requirements

Experience operating an asphalt roller on road construction projects is preferred.
Knowledge of asphalt and aggregate characteristics, rolling patterns, and vibrating frequencies in comparison to maximum depth.
Ability to follow grades.
Knowledge of equipment and its uses.
Ability to understand and apply basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
Knowledge of basic measurements and ability to read a tape measure.
Ability to repeatedly lift 30 pounds and walk, stoop, squat, sit, and kneel.
Ability to pass a required physical examination.
Reliable attendance and a positive attitude.
